safe for play! keep away! Scavenger Hunt (Ages 4-5)
You will need:
- Pictures of objects that make fire and pictures of objects which are safe for play.
- Click here for a printable version of the keep away! and safe for play! symbols from the game.
How to play:
Post the safe for play! symbol (smiling star) in play area,
and the keep away! symbol (international "not" symbol) someplace
where it is visible but out of the children's reach. Introduce these
symbols to the children, explaining that the smiling star is the sign
for things that are safe for play! and that the circle with the
line across it stands for things children must keep away! from.
Hide the pictures around the room for the children to find. Have the
children put the pictures of things that are safe for play! in
the area with the safe for play! symbol. However, if they find
a picture of an object that can make fire, have them call out "keep
away!" then ask a grown-up to put that picture in the keep
away! area.
